Psychometry is the term used by which one can tune into the residual energy left behind in an object be that jewellery, clothing, a photo or any personal possesion. By working in this way you are connecting on a psychic level, although some mediums use psychometry to establish a link with someone in the world of spirit.

EXERCISE

First spend a moment relaxing your body & mind, make sure the object you wish to work with has’nt had lots of owners as this may prove difficult in gaining conformation of the information you percive from it. When you are ready hold the object in your hands & try to sence with your hands not your head. Notice how the object makes you feel, how if effects your emotions, are you drawn to any part of your body. You may start to see images in your minds eye, which will come quick & fast, a name or a sentence may come to you. Sometimes a strong smell or taste will manifest, none of this will make any sence to the logical mind, so don’t go there trying to work it all out. Write down every detail or if you are working with another person or in a group just say what impressions you are getting no matter how strange or silly they seem to you.

Some years back a lady came up to me at a party who was interested in all things psychic. And without asking she placed a watch in my hands & said ‘what do you get from that’. I was a bit irritated as i was’nt working & felt put on the spot, anyway i held the watch & remember saying that whoever owns this is very agressive & that they could kill someone if pushed. Feeling a bit shocked at what i just said & wondering if i should have said it at all, she looked at me & replied that it belonged to her ex-boyfriend who was in prison serving time for murder.

Psychometry can be useful in readings as well if you find you are having a problem linking with a client. Asking to hold their ring or watch can kick start your intuition. Going into a building & being sensitive to the energy imprint absorbed within its fabric is also a form of psychometry. Being able to link into past events which have caused strong emotions to remain present throughout time. In my next blog i will write about earthbound spirits & spirit entities, are they real or not.

Working as a psychic medium i come across many people who say, i would love to  be able to do what you do, it must be such an amazing job. Well its definitely different i can say that. Over the years when asked what i did for a living i would always say i was a therapist & try to change the conversation, never really owning my power & being confident in myself & what i do. But these days i quite enjoy saying  ‘yes i work as a psychic medium’ it can be a real conversation killer. 

I remember being invited to a drinks party & unbeknown to me there were a few Christians present, as usual everyone wants to know what everyone does for a living & when asked i replied ‘ i give readings’ ‘Oh how wonderful’ the lady remarked, ‘& what passages from the Bible do you read from’.  Well like a red flag to a bull  i just couldn’t resist saying, ‘no actually i speak to dead people’. In hindsight i think i should have waited for her to finish her sausage on a stick before giving my reply, lets just say it didn’t go down to well, a bit like the sausage. 

This job is a vocation not just something you wake up one morning & decide to do. I hear stories about people who have gone on a few workshops or courses & then proceed to chuck in their jobs & set themselves up as readers. I always ask when people say i want to be able to do what you do & earn a living as a psychic or medium, why? & the only answer i want to hear is, i wish to be of service to others, but sadly that’s not always the case. Working in this field brings great responsibility & as you know words are very powerful & can plant  seeds  in the sub-conscious both positive & negative.

A few years back i sat in a development circle & a fellow student who was also a working medium & teacher gave me a message that someone close to me would die within the next six months, but don’t worry she said, spirit will gather round & support me. It was all said in a very casual way & then she rambled on about other things which were going on in my life which made no sense what so ever. I remember feeling very angry & wanting to lean across & slap her for being so irresponsible in what she was  saying, even though i work with spirit it still planted a little seed of worry in my mind about those close to me. As it transpired an older cousin of mine i had met a few times & didn’t know very well did pass away, even so it taught me how important it is when given a clairvoyant reading to be fully aware of the impact our messages can have & to be mindful of what to say or not to say.
 
I’ve just finished reading a book about the life of a well know psychic who now works mostly abroad, this lady is a very gifted psychic & medium but has never sat in a development circle. Before she begins her readings she offers the client the option as to whether they wish to know everything she see’s or not. If they choose to know everything she will tell them if someone close is going to die or if she see’s an accident or even a murder. Even though her client has asked to be told everything that does not mean they can handle the information when given, which brings me back to the need for responsibility in the messages that are given out by clairvoyants.

As any genuine psychic will tell you, we can & do get things wrong were not perfect. So if you want to walk this path or more importantly spirit wish to use you as a channel know that it will not always be easy, spirit will test you many times. It can be a rollercoaster ride of emotions doing a job that relies souley on your intuition, trusting what you either see, hear or feel connecting to the person sat opposite you. There will be good days & bad days but if you keep your feet firmly on the ground & know that the message is more important than the messenger you’ll do ok.

There are many people who are drawn to develop their own spiritualality with many paths to choose from. In my work as a psychic medium I encounter many who would like to connect to the world of spirit, but have no understanding of how to go about it.

The first thing to appreciate is that spirits are existing in a dimension that vibrates at a much faster level than we find ourselves at present. So we need to find a way of raising our vibration & becoming sensitive to energies beyond our five senses.

Meditation is a good starting point in as much as it teaches us to be still & slow down the chatter that goes on in our minds. Once we can still the mind & body we can look closer at the psychic mechanism known as the three clairs. Clairvoyance is to see, clairaudience is to hear and clairsentience is to feel.

When we raise our vibration spirit will slow down theirs so they can find the easiest & quickest way of communicating. As we learn to work with them they are learning to work best with us. So how do we raise our vibration? It is all done by thought, as one thinks so energy follows thought.

You can visualise your chakras & aura expanding filling your very being with light, or see a bright white light entering the top of the head or crown chakra flowing down the body into the earth. As you expand your awareness, spirit will overshadow your mind & body with different images, sounds or words, feelings & emotions. It is at this stage that you will learn over time the difference between your own thoughts & those of the spirit world.

I would advise you then to find a regular development group with a skilled teacher who can show you how best to trust yourself & the information you receive from spirit.
